Privacy Policy
Skipalong is a private, friends-only app for parents in Taipei and New Taipei. This policy explains what we collect, why, who can see it, and the choices you have. We built Skipalong around a single rule: you only share with the friends you choose, and nothing is public.
Who we are
Skipalong is operated by Cardinal Blue Software, Inc. ("we", "us"). If you have any question about this policy or your data, contact us at yutang.cheng@cardinalblue.com.
What we collect
- Account & sign-in. When you sign in with Google, Apple, or LINE, we receive a sign-in identifier (your Google email, your Apple Sign-In identifier, or your LINE user ID) and, if you allow it, your name and profile photo from that provider.
- Profile. Your display name, a public handle, an optional short bio, and an optional avatar.
- Your children (optional). If you choose to add them, your children's first names and birth years — used only to suggest age-appropriate meetups. This step is skippable and you can remove it at any time.
- Check-ins. Which venue you check in to and when. Check-ins are visible to your accepted friends and automatically fade after 3 hours — we keep no public check-in history.
- Hangouts. Private meetups you create or RSVP to, including title, time, and location.
- Around Town interests. Curated kid-friendly events you mark as interesting.
- Friends & invites. Your invite code and the friend connections you make through invite codes or QR.
- Notifications. A push notification token for your device, so we can notify you about friend activity, requests, and RSVPs (only if you grant permission).
- Location. If you grant location permission, your device location is used on-device to center the map and find nearby venues. We do not continuously track or store your location — only an explicit check-in records a venue.
- Reports. If you report another user, we record who reported whom, the reason you selected, and any note you add, so we can review and act on it.
How we use it
- To run the core features: show friends' check-ins, coordinate hangouts, surface events.
- To connect you with friends you invite (or who invite you) and gate visibility to accepted friends only.
- To send the notifications you've opted into.
- To keep the service safe — reviewing reports and enforcing blocks.
Who can see what
Only your accepted friends can see your check-ins, hangouts, and profile. There is no friend-of-friend visibility, no public profiles, no public feed, and no discovery of strangers. When you share a hangout link with a non-user, they see only the host's name, the event basics, and an anonymized "going" count — never your friend list or other guests' identities.
What we don't collect or do
- We don't access or upload your phone contacts.
- We don't track your location in the background or outside an explicit check-in.
- We don't embed third-party advertising or analytics SDKs, and we don't track you across other apps or websites — so the app shows no "Ask App Not to Track" prompt because there is nothing to track.
- We don't sell your data.
Services we rely on
We share the minimum data necessary with the following processors to operate the app:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and notification delivery (hosting region: Singapore).
- Sign in with Apple, Google Sign-In, LINE Login — authentication.
- Apple Push Notification service (via Expo) — delivering notifications.
- Google Places API — searching for custom meetup locations.
- MapLibre — map tiles.
- Cloudflare — hosting our public invite and event-share web pages.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data while your account is active. Check-ins fade from view after 3 hours. When you delete your account, your data is removed (see "Deleting your account").
Children's data
Skipalong is directed at parents (adults), not at children, and is not in Apple's Kids Category. The only children's information in the app is the optional first name and birth year a parent may add about their own child to group ages — entered by the parent, never collected from a child.
Your choices
- Edit or remove your profile, bio, avatar, and children at any time in the app.
- Turn notification types on or off in Settings.
- Grant or revoke location and camera permission in your device settings.
- Block or report another user from the Friends tab.
- Delete your account (below).
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Settings → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and removes your profile, check-ins, hangouts, RSVPs, kids, friendships, and notification token.
Security
Access to your data is enforced at the database level by per-user security rules so that only you and your accepted friends can read what's intended for them. Data in transit is encrypted.
Region
Skipalong is built for Taipei and New Taipei. Data is hosted in Singapore (our Supabase region).
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when our practices change and revise the "Last updated" date above.
